What is a UK salary statement?

A manual-entry summary of pay used for loan applications, mortgage proofs, and visa records when you already know the figures. Unlike a payslip (statutory under Employment Rights Act 1996 s.8), a salary statement carries no fixed format — you control every line.

What this generates

  • Multi-month or annual salary summary PDF
  • Aggregated gross, tax, NI, net columns
  • One row per pay period
  • Useful for mortgage applications + visa proof-of-income

Primary sources

A UK salary statement is a manual-entry summary of pay used for loan applications, mortgage proofs, and visa records — typically when a borrower already knows the figures and needs a clean PDF. Unlike a payslip, which is required under section 8 of the Employment Rights Act 1996 and carries auto-calculated PAYE / NI / pension deductions, a salary statement carries no statutory format and no auto-calculation; you control every figure.

FAQ

Salary statements — common questions

How is a salary statement different from a payslip?
The Payslip Generator auto-calculates PAYE, National Insurance, pension and student loan on HMRC's 2025/26 rates. A salary statement is a lighter, manual-entry record (also called a salary slip) for when you already know the figures and just need a clean summary of them.
Do I enter the figures myself?
Yes — there is no PAYE maths. You fill in gross pay, each deduction and net pay, and the statement lays them out. It is the right tool when you are reconstructing historic pay or already hold the numbers and need them presented cleanly.
Is a salary statement accepted for visa or loan records?
It is commonly used as a pay summary for visa records, loan applications and rental references. For a mortgage specifically, lenders have their own checks — see using a payslip for a UK mortgage for what they look for and how many months they want.
Is a salary statement the same as a P60 or P45?
No. A P60 (year-end summary) and P45 (when you leave a job) are official HMRC forms your employer issues. A salary statement is a per-period record you produce yourself — useful alongside them, not a replacement.

First-timer questions

  • How many months can I include?

Up to 24 in v1. Longer ranges produce a multi-page PDF.

  • Will a lender accept this?

It is your self-prepared summary. Most lenders want this alongside HMRC SA302 + Tax Year Overview; treat it as a supplement, not a replacement.

  • Does the QR prove anything to a lender?

It proves the PDF has not been edited since you signed it. It does not prove the values are accurate — that is on you.

  • Can I include bonus + commission rows?

Yes — add them as separate line items in the pay period entry.
